The English writing plugin is in the process of being adapted, you can first use it according to the following instructions.
Word for Windows Writing Plug-in
- Supports MS Office 2010, 2013, 2016, 2019 / Office 365 (32-bit and 64-bit)
Word for macOS Writing Plug-in
- Supports MS Office 2016 15.19 or higher versions. It is recommended to use the latest version.
Writing Procedure
a. Select the citation(s) to be inserted in NoteExpress Web.
b. Return to Word and click the 选择引用 Select Citation button in the NoteExpress add-in.
c. In-text citations and bibliography entries will be automatically generated.
d. To switch to another citation style, click the 格式化 Format Bibliography button, then click 浏览 Browse.
e. Locate the required style and click 确定 OK.
f. In-text citations and bibliography entries will be automatically reformatted to the selected style.
Formatting Citations and Bibliographies
The NoteExpress Web add-in enables comprehensive formatting of in-text citations and bibliography entries. Follow these steps:
a. Initiate formatting
Click the 格式化 Format Bibliography button in the NoteExpress add-in ribbon.
b. Configure formatting settings
In the Format Bibliography dialog, customize:
选择一个输出样式 Output style: Select citation format
生成校对报告 Generate proofreading report: Enable/disable validation report
与青提数据库同步数据 Synchronize with NoteExpress database: Toggle reference data updating
起始编号 Starting number: Set custom numbering sequence
模板颜色 Color scheme: Choose primary/alternate template colors
Click 浏览 Browse to access:
5,000+ built-in citation styles
Category-based filtering system
Quick search functionality
c. Apply formatting
Click 确定 OK to execute formatting across the entire document.
Footnote/Endnote Configuration:
To create footnotes:
- Search for “Footnote” in style browser
- Select journal-specific templates (e.g. Journal of Renmin University of China)
- Follow standard formatting procedure
Updating Reference Entries
The NoteExpress Web add-in supports dynamic updating of bibliographic records. Procedure:
a. Modify source data
In your NoteExpress Web database:
- Edit relevant fields (author, title, etc.)
- Click Save Changes
b. Sync document references
In your Word document:
- Place cursor within the target citation
- Click Update References in the NoteExpress ribbon
Citation Style Management
NoteExpress Web add-in provides access to nearly 5,000 journal-specific citation formats. Adjustment procedure:
a. Access style library
Click 样式 Styles → 浏览更多样式 Browse Additional Styles… in the NoteExpress Web ribbon
b. Select target style
In the Style Browser interface:
Navigate through discipline categories (Medicine, Engineering, etc.)
Use search field for direct lookup
Double-click desired style or select and click 确定 OK
Modify specific citation elements without reinserting references:
Step 1: Initiate citation edit
Select target in-text citation in your document → Click 编辑引文 Edit Citation in NoteExpress Web ribbon
Step 2: Modify citation parameters
In the Edit Citation dialog:
- Edit citation 引用页码 page numbers, 引文前缀 prefixes, and 引文后缀 suffixes
- 删除 Delete or 更新 update the corresponding reference fields
Locating Citations
- Select the target reference in the document’s reference list.
- Click 定位引文 Locate Citation to jump to the corresponding in-text citation position.
Finding Citations
Select the citation to be located in the text and click the 查找引文 Find Citation button.
The corresponding citation will be highlighted wherever it appears in the entire document.
Clearing Field Codes
The 清除域代码 Clear Field Codes function permanently removes all formatting codes from the Word document with one click.
After clearing, the document cannot be reformatted.
Removing Formatting
去除格式化 Remove Formatting would hide citation details by replacing them with “{#}” and removes the bibliography.
Settings Configuration
Click 设置 Settings to:
- View the current version of the writing add-in
- Enable/disable 即时格式化 Instant Formatting
